For a state to have a state lodge, there must be 3 other lodges in the state. In 1979, Kansas Chartered it’s state lodge. The lodges in existence at that time were, Parsons, Lawrence, Topeka, & Kansas City.

The Kansas State Lodge holds a conference once a year in May or June and holds two additional meetings, historically held in February and October. The state lodge provides support for small and large lodges throughout the state with the services of a lobbyist, scholarships for the national conference, and other assistance.

The Kansas State Lodge is a member of the Western States Organization. This is an organization of state lodges geographically West of the Mississippi River. Originally the state of Texas was a member but withdrew several years ago. Each state receives a total of 3 voting members. The members are specified as the National Trustee, The State President, and 1 additional delegate specified by the state. This is normally the State Secretary. The Western States Organization was originally formed as a voting block to offset the voting membership of Pennsylvania at National Conferences. It has been highly successful in that endeavor and continues to foster fraternalism and brotherhood. To find out more click here, http://www.wsfop.org
